Group 7: Nolan Owens and Jacob Meddings Our game was made to help people learn about the solar system in a more fun way then then how it would be taught to kids in school. Each player will roll a dice to advance and when they land on a planet they will have to answer a trivia question that will determine whether or not that player get to move forward or not. Our target audience for this game is kid age 6 to 12 years that are interested in learn more about not just our planet but about the whole solar system. One problem that we had during the design process of the game was how the "star" spaces should be implemented, because we wanted them to be in the game as a sort of challenge that kids can use to really test their knowledge about the solar system but we were struggling if the spaces should have a consequence for not getting the questions right similar to the planets and how if you get those wrong you get sent back a few spaces. We wanted to implement some more on the cons...

Jacob Meddings Group 7     The other day my group and I  playtested another groups game and the name was JK's Drive Thru Madness (Group 5). The other games that I playtested was Marshmallow Mania (Group 1), Wizard King (Group 4), and Group 10 didn't have a name but they were there game had a bunch of color tiles. The game that I will be choosing is JK's Drive Thru Madness because I spent the most amount of time with. Player : The game has multiple players but the recommended amount is two players and they are competing against each other by seeing who is the fastest in the limited amount of time Objective : The objective of the game is to try and make all four burgers within the one minute time frame and outlast all other players. Procedures : Each player has to make the burgers within a certain time frame. Each player must role a dice to see which type of burgers they have to make, then they are given one minute to find the ingredient and make all four before the t...

Jacob Meddings Group 7 Rule Sheet 2 ePortfolio Post 3      Our game for this project is an educational space game targeted towards 6 to 12 year old's. To start our designing process, my partner and I did a brainstorming session to come up with the basics of our game. We fairly quickly came up with a game that includes a board with stars and planets that the players move between. The board will be our solar system. Our next question was how do we make it educational? We came up with the idea to implement trivia cards that the players must get correct to advance. Each planet will have a stack of cards, when a player lands on the planet they must pick a card and answer it correctly to advance. We wrote down our notes as we brainstormed and even drew out a very rough board so that we could visualize it. To finish the brainstorming session, we came up with the name “Space Explorers” and then came up with our plan for the first rule sheet. For our first rule sheet, I foun...

Jacob Meddings Group 2 ePortfolio Post 2      We are group number two and we have modified the game solitaire. The set up for our version of the game is the same as normal solitaire the players are allowed to have two discard piles. The player can then use the top card from either pile. This allows for more strategy, having the option to choose which discard pile, as well as giving the player a higher chance of completing the game.        Our target audience are players that are new to the game of solitaire as we are ourselves. The rule of the second discard pile is easy enough for new players to understand and it allowed for more options. We found that in our version, as beginners, we became less frustrated and were more likely to play again.     All of our tasks were completed when we were able to. One issue we faced was that I was out with an illness for over a week. This caused us to lack the self play testing of our game ear...
